The vision of the Music Department at Brook Mead Academy is to provide a broad and engaging curriculum of musical knowledge and performance opportunities. Our schemes of work and co-curriculum encompass theoretical, historical, and cultural scholarship with skills in performing and composing. Listening to, analysing, appraising, and appreciating music of various styles and genres allows scholars to identify “what makes music, music” and celebrate our world’s musical diversity and the togetherness music can bring to our own communities. There is an exposure to a range of musical instruments and vocal skills, composition technology and performance opportunities.

This is further enhanced by music sessions offered as part of our Brook Bonus Time. Furthermore, about 20 music scholarships are awarded each year to enable scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds to have a five-year loan of an instrument and fully paid tuition by our array of peripatetic teachers. This then leads to ensemble playing opportunities as greater proficiency is reached.
