Food Preparation and Nutrition at Brook Mead Academy inspires our scholars to explore the world of food, nutrition, and healthy food choices. Through hands-on cooking and an understanding of food science, they discover how ingredients work, how to make nutritious choices, and how to prepare a range of sweet and savoury dishes. Scholars are well trained in using the kitchen safely and hygienically.
Our curriculum celebrates global cuisines and promotes respect for diverse cultural, medical, and ethical dietary needs, helping students appreciate the rich variety of food traditions around them.
From mastering essential cookery skills to tackling more advanced techniques, students gain confidence in the kitchen and build valuable life skills—time management, organisation, precision, and teamwork. These experiences not only prepare them for exciting futures in hospitality, catering, and food science but also nurture a lifelong love of cooking and good food.
