We are delighted to announce that the Secretary of State for Education has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with Brook Mead Academy, which is a legally binding contract between TMET and the Department for Education and contains the terms and conditions upon which Brook Mead Academy is to be funded.
Rita Hindocha, Principal Designate of Brook Mead Academy said: “We are all absolutely thrilled that the Secretary of State for Education has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with Brook Mead Academy. This key milestone demonstrates the Government’s commitment that we will open in 2021. It also illustrates the Department for Education’s confidence in Brook Mead delivering a high quality education to the young people of Leicester. We are in the process of recruiting expert staff and are excited by developing our founding team.”
Brook Mead Academy will open in late August 2021, welcoming 240 Year 7 students in its first year and gradually grow to a school of 1500 students. The school will draw on first class leadership and outstanding teaching and learning practices to support each learner, making sure that they have every opportunity to achieve. The school will join the already established and highly popular recently opened school, Castle Mead Academy and the long successful, Rushey Mead Academy within The Mead Educational Trust. Alongside Orchard Mead Academy, the successful education approaches that have long benefitted families in the north of Leicester will now be available in the west of the city.
